Previous Announcement
Given that the registration information for this course was collected and made available to students last Spring, it is expected that adjustments need to be made due to errors, misjudgment, or unanticipated variables. After reviewing course content (new book and resources) and tools for delivery and student engagement (Wimba), it is noted that the initial dates posted as notes in Banweb will not effectively work to support student learning. So the table below illustrates the corrected and proposed changes to the class meetings in Wimba throughout the term.
For example, the ability to meet during the first week of the term instead of the second week -- to explain expectations and outcome especially for assignment 1 -- provides more time for students to prepare for their Learning Theory Wimba presentation. Students will have more time to choose a learning theory and pair up with other students -- almost 4 weeks instead of 2 weeks -- to put together an electronic presentation in Wimba.
Another example of the benefits in adjusting the schedule is the possibility of not doing the 6th Wimba session if all groups are able to present their final projects on November 7. In completing this assignment before Thanksgiving Holiday, students will have more time to complete their assignments in other courses and lessen the stress experienced during the end of the term
Whatever your position on this proposed schedule adjustment (agree or disagree) please let me know by sending an email to dbaylen@westga.edu on or before Wednesday, August 15. Your vote counts on this matter. I will be happy to discuss accommodations if you have a conflict with the proposed class meeting dates.
Your incentive in giving feedback to this matter will be the opportunity to take a sneak peak of the tentative course syllabi by Friday, August 17 via email. The course website and its content will become accessible to registered students a day before classes start after 5:00 pm.
You are provided a course schedule to guide you in managing our course. Remember that this course schedule may change given unpredictable circumstances beyond your professor's control.
